Douro Quay Beacon
The Douro Quay Beacon, a work by engineer Fernando Silveira Ramos, was built on the north bank of the mouth of the Douro River to resist the direct action of storm waves and big flood currents. The structure, which used more than 65,000 m3 of concrete and 2,500 tons of steel, won the Secil Award of Civil Engineering in 2009. Is a perfect place for a walk by the sea and offers fantastic panoramic views. You can also walk through the interior and up to the beacon.
