House of Music
The House of Music is the first building in Portugal exclusively dedicated to music and was designed as part of Porto’s project for European Capital of Culture in 2001. It was designed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and opened in 2005. It is a center for the promotion of the national and international music scene, and features an eclectic programming, including several free shows. It offers guided tours for different audiences. For about an hour, visitors can be led by a guide who will explain how the architecture, functionalities and artistic programming all relate to each other. You can choose between regular daily visits - in Portuguese and English, and visits custom-designed for your group and available in multiple languages and by appointment. The sightseeing tour allows visitors to explore the building in a relaxed and seductive atmosphere, which includes in the end a glass of Porto wine or a visit backstage that will give you an idea of the daily dynamics of preparing concerts.
