Senhor de Matosinhos

Between late May and mid-June, the Lord of Matosinhos Festival brightens up this neighbouring town of Porto, attracting thousands of visitors. The highlight of the festival is the traditional Fireworks, however during the event, which lasts three weeks and merges with the City Festivals, there are other reasons for pilgrimage: the Solemn Eucharist of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos, on 10th June, a municipal bank holiday; the Procession of the Lord of Matosinhos, traditional food and drink stalls, with regional desserts and char-grilled sardines; the ​​rides and amusements area; the traditional Matosinhos Crafts Fair (FAMA) and the charismatic China Fair.
