Marés Vivas Festival

The Marés Vivas Festival is sponsored by the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia and by the company PEV Entertainment and usually takes place mid-July. Its first edition was in 1998 and it is an eclectic event that brings together several musical genres, as well as both international artists and Portuguese musicians. It is a family oriented festival that has cheaper tickets than would normally be seen in similar music festivals. At Marés Vivas, in Praia do Cabedelo, near the mouth of the River Douro have passed names such as Guano Apes, Peter Murphy, Placebo, Skunk Anansie, Moby, Tindersticks, The Cranberries, Mika, Billy Idol, Franz Ferdinand, Anastacia, Kaiser Chiefs , The Cult, Garbage, The Hives, Portishead, Joss Stone, The Prodigy, James and 30 Seconds To Mars.
