The epicentre of New Year's Eve in Porto is in Avenida dos Aliados, the city's guest-room, where the party starts before midnight, with a concert that anticipates the countdown to the usual fireworks spectacle, launched from the Paços do Concelho [the Town Hall], and continues into the 1st day of the new year, with more music and several private parties in the bars and clubs of the downtown and historic centre of Invicta. On the night of New Year's Eve, the Porto Underground works non-stop and has twice as many passengers.
