Oporto Churches
We could almost say that Porto has a church on every corner. There are many temples that admire and stop visitors, for their monumentality and/or artistic style. In town, there are churches of various periods and influences, but of special mention is its rich Baroque heritage. This extravagant and dramatic artistic style is manifested in numerous and significant buildings of religious architecture, examples of which are the Church and Tower of the Clerics and the facade of the Church of Mercy. The actual Cathedral, of Romanesque origin, was one of the first buildings of the Invicta to undergo Baroque adaptations.
