São Roque Park
The São Roque Park has over 4 acres and is currently managed and owned by the Porto City Hall, which acquired it from the Calém family in 1979. It opened to the public in the same year, and was refurbished in the early 1990s. Its gardens have elements that were fashionable in the nineteenth century such as the minarets, the hedges, the fountains or other architectural ornaments. In this park, you may also see a set of sculptures, installed after the park was bought by the city, and a chapel that came from the Largo Actor Dias and which was rebuilt in this green space. The boxwood maze is another point of interest in this park that maintains the characteristics of a romantic garden. Finally, the São Roque Park has also hosted a Center for Environmental Education since 2002.
