The City Park
The City Park is the largest green "lung" of Porto and the largest urban park in the country. With 83 hectares, the park starts near the end of the Boavista Avenue and extends to the Atlantic ocean. It was designed by the landscape architect Sidónio Pardal and inaugurated in 1993, with its seafront completed only in 2002. Two years earlier, it had been considered by the Order of Engineers to be one of the "100 most notable public works of the twentieth century in Portugal". In City Park you will find a rural and rustic landscape with delightful recesses where one can picnic or play football with the kids. This idyllic setting comprises about 10 miles of trails, lakes, a rich and diverse fauna and flora and various sports facilities, as well as a connection to the beach.
